An oil free scroll air compressor uses two interleaved spiral scrolls to compress air without any oil in the compression chamber. Because there is no lubricant in the air path, the delivered air contains no oil aerosol – which is why scroll compressors are used for medical, laboratory, food, pharmaceutical and electronics applications.

An oil-lubricated compressor always carries a small amount of oil into the air line, so it needs coalescing filters and regular oil changes. An oil free scroll compressor removes that risk entirely: the air stays clean, there is no oil to buy or dispose of, and maintenance is limited to filters, seals and the scroll element after a long service interval.

ISO 8573-1 defines purity classes for compressed air. Class 0 is the strictest oil class and is defined by the equipment supplier; Hejun scroll compressors are tested by TUV Rheinland and certified to Class 0 for oil, meaning no measurable oil carry-over.
